Hello Folks,
A week or so ago I put up a post about shooting a deer with my hand-me-down Model 14 and getting to add a notch in the stock. A tradition that one of my ancestors started.
Well, on Saturday I got to add another one. This time it was a buck at 20 yards. A shot through both front shoulders dropped him dead right in his tracks. This has been kind of a sentimental hunting season so far. I was even wearing a blaze orange hat that my grandmother who passed away in 1986 knitted for my dad 30 years ago.
This old .35 has been a lot of fun so far!
Another Notch in the stock
Re: Another Notch in the stock
My dad did that with his M/14 in 30 Rem in Northern Michigan. He added to the finger grooves in the forearm instead of notching the stock. I wish I had the rifle, but my brother got it for Christmas one year, then promptly hocked it.
