Ithaca barrel for Rem. 17

Has anyone here ever tried an Ithaca 37 barrel on a Remington 17? I would like a shorter barrel with screw in chokes for my 1926 vintage 20 gauge 17A but I'm not going to mess with the original barrel. 37 barrels are cheap and easy to find...17 barrels aren't. I know the patents are the same but that doesn't mean the parts interchange. Any ideas?

No only do they not interchange, but for many years the factory had to fit a replacement barrel to a 37, they were not swappable.
