Convert a 700 SPS 243 to 7mm-08?

Can my 700 SPS Buckmasters .243 be converted to 7mm-08 by putting another barrel on it? I am considering a 20" barrel (if I can find one) instead of the original 24" .243. Can this be done w/o amy other mods? I am trying to make it a shorter "woods" rifle. Thanks for your replies in advance.

the money on the barrel, other parts, and gunsmithing involved would probably warrant you just buying another 700, I reckon... I'm not a gunsmith, though, so don't listen to me.

TBayt is right, Just leave yours alone and buy another one. If you want the shorter easy to move with look at the model 7. Personally i would buy the 260 Remington before the 7mm 08.

I haven't shot a 260, but I have had several 7mm 08s and they all shot great. They were quite forgiving of different loads.
