Hi, I went and picked up a lil 22 I used to hunt with when I was a kid in the 70's. I found out it was my grandfathers then fathers rifle. No SN but barrel code KB so it's production date is May, 1933. They were produced from '32 to '35.
Now here's whats odd, it has no finger groves in the stock and the steel butt plate has a circle with a snake and stylalized "D". All the pics I've seen they have finger groves and bare buttplates.
Also, is it a smooth bore?
Thanks all
model 33 odd features???
Re: model 33 odd features???
If it's a smooth bore, it will say so on the barrel. Also, just look down the bore...
It sounds like the butt plate has had some creative work done on it.
The early M/33s did not have finger grooves. There were other changes made starting in 1933 as explained on page 187 in our book.

Hey, found out the buttplate is off a "Deutsch Werke" rifle. Exact same logo! They made boats and rifles till WWII then went dissapered.
