Barrel is marked 3" on this model 11....sounds like a real bad idea...

These were somewhat popular in the 1940s and 1950s when Arthur Kovalovsky, 5524 Cahuenga Blvd., No. Hollywood, California, was well known for this conversion, both to Model 11/Sportsman and Browning A5s. When the 2 3/4 inch Magnum 12-gauge with 1 1/2 ounces of shot, came out circa 1955, Arthur also offered a heavier spring for Model 11/Sportsman for use with that load.

The 3-inch Magnum 12-gauge Model 11 conversions are mentioned several places in Shotguns by Keith.
