I've got a 12C I inherited from my father who owned a shooting gallery way back in the 20's & 30's....some identification marks are as follows...Top of Barrel --Model 12-C....Barrell has all the marking mentioned by other post...Serial No.# 558603 under RW...Octagon shaped barrel...Crescent stock--wood is in great shape..Behind trigger guard is a circle with Remington UMC--Same trade mark is also found on the crescent butt plate..On the left side of the barrel right in front of the receiver are initials J over O or Q --there is a line dividing both letters...some writing on barrel is Remington Arms--Union Metallic Cartridge CO, Remington Works, ILion, N.Y., U.S.A.---All letters are capitalized...Really surprised at the condition of the wood--excellent....Your assistance helping to date this little baby would be greatly appreciate....THANK YOU...

According to Remington records, your rifle was made in 1920. The M/12 was made from 1909 to 1936 with a total production of over 800,000. The M/12 is a great little rifle!
