Check my Model 12 homework for me?

Post by horseshoejack »

I've become newly acquainted with what I believe is a Model 12 CS. It has the octagon barrel, straight stock with crescent metal butt-plate, and the pre-tapped rear site attachment( screws in the hole, no sight, but I'd like to find one).
The only numbers or markings I can find aside from the patent mark on top of the barrel is an RW with the numbers 262889 below. From going thru these forums I've come up with a Remington Works, 22 WRF chambered, manufactured in 1914, dandy.
How'd I do?
Thanks, Jack

Your info is correct. The straight stock is a plus. Most had the semi-pistol grip. There are old Lyman R-12 tang sights available for $135 or so. If you look around you might find one cheaper...

Thanks John. Where would be a good place to look for that sight and in your opinion is this rifle worth insuring?
I wound up with 3 other older Remington .22's in this "inheritance" pkg and will start looking them up too.
