Can anyone tell me how to go about loading for 44 Renington Revolver for the model 1875,
OK so I can work up a powder load from .44 Colt and I can measure the bore and make a bullet mould. My problem is what cases can be reformed to fit and what are the measurements. I can't find any thing in the books that usually help me out. Nonte's Cartridge Conversions and Cartridges of the World by Barnes.
Can you help?

Re: Loading for 44 remington
44-40 will chamber but the case heads need to be thinned to cycle properly iirc.

Re: Loading for 44 remington
Thank you very much. Your post is a real help.
Re: Loading for 44 remington
44.40 did not work. The base was too large. 44 special may work with a lot of swaging . 41 Magnum look the best bet but will need fire forming. As we are not alowed to do this sort of thing in the UK a friend is doing it in Switzerland. I will keep you all informed.
Re: Loading for 44 remington
if by base you mean the case head, then yes it needs to be trimmed as per the link I supplied.Access to a lathe would be handy
