Barn finds are very rare here in the UK these days but this came to light last week.
Model 1875 in .44 Remington. Good item not at all messed about with and showing over 35% original finish. Pinched sights and with lanyard ring.
Now for the question. Apart from the Remington address and the batch/serial number under the grips the only mark on the gun is a cartouch stamped into the grip. It has the letters 'FR' in an oblong and looks rather like the military inspectors marks that I am used to on Colts.
It lucky that it wasn't in .45 Colt otherwise our caring government would have had it destroyed.
Fight for what you have. When it's gone, it's gone.
