870 Matched Pair

I recently purchased a pair of 870's -28 ga. & 410 - On the receiver it says "Matched Pair " #1498.How can I determine if they are truly a"Matched Pair"?The serial # are completely different.

Yes - They are a matched pair. Probably should have a set of fore end weight caps, and there should be gold fill in the rolled engraving on the receivers. They made Matched Pair sets fo both 1100 and 870's. At one time, i had the #3 set of 1100's

As I recall, the SN's of the individual guns are different, but the "matched pair"
numbers should be the same.
