New member here. Hello to everyone and thanks for all of the useful info on these pages.
I am trying to determine date of manufacture of a recently acquired rimfire 40XB which I think may be 1964.
The SN is 2340xB which is quite a bit higher than other XB SNs I have seen.
The date markings on the barrel are WDL 8 (or possibly B).
Looking at Remington's date code explanation, the only way I can make sense of this is if by disregarding the W. I also have no clue what the 8 (or B) would mean.
Would appreciate any help you may have.

40XB date of manufacture ??
Re: 40XB date of manufacture ??
I believe the first and last character are the inspector and assembler. The date code is in between, so unless its a 1991 model, your assumption is correct. Would be a nice rifle to have. I don't believe I've ever even seen one in person.
