My father gave me his guns about a year ago. One of those guns is a Remington .22LR Model 512-X. I have seen the chart for the month/year code, but the only numbers that seem to be on the gun is the model number. My father said he picked it up in 1964 from an Air Force BX. Although, I don't know if it was new, I can only assume so. From the records on Remington's History page, it said they stopped production around 1960. I've found some info on the model 512.
Does anyone know anything about the 512-X model? This gun is an incredilbly accurate gun. I do want to restore it (refinish the metal and possibly the stock) so that I can see it last at least another 40 years (hopefully longer). Any information on this model would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

The X's were built from 1964-67, 18,088 made. They took the Nylon bolt action sites and put it on these rifles so it has windage and elevation adjustments. They had to raise the front site to compensate for the higher rear site. Nice, fun rifles to shoot. Only collectable in like new condition. Have fun with it.
