Remington Keene information?

My father passed away and I became owner of a Remington Keene Bolt Action Rifle. It's not in to bad of shape with only one minor hairline crack that only goes a little way into the wood. All original sights, everything is there. A U.S.I.D. number of 417 is printed into the metal. My mother tells me the rifle was given in exchange for lumber about 1920 on a reservation in South Dakota. Any history or value would be appreciated!!
