7600 Carbine 35 whelen

I was told this rifle was a shot show special(factory carbine)...just wondering if someone can tell me what year it was made...serial number is B8524xxx. I think " B" is for 2007 is it not??? Thanks for the help and info guys.

Yes it does have Carbine written on it....Any idea what year it was made????

Check the barrel codes. Serial numbers aren't necessarily reliable.

The .35 Whelen was introduced in 1988 in the 700 Classic and the 7600. In the catalogs I have from those years, in the first year of production, it had the glossy RKW finish stock. By 1990, the 7600s were illustrated in the catalog in satin finish stocks although starting in 1991 it listed some calibers in both the satin and glossy finish.....but not in the .35 Whelen.....it was only available in the satin finish.

Please let us know what you find in the barrel codes.

The 2 letters on the barrel are.....XY
does this mean the rifle was made in Dec/2004??????

Sounds like you got it figured out from the barrel codes. From those letters, that's what I interpret the date to be, too.

If it was a limited edition/special run for an event, it wouldn't be found in a catalog, so the barrel codes would be the only way to check when it was made.
