Remington model 8 or 81

I am looking at buying a Remington model 8 or 81. Can anybody give me some info (both good and bad), about these models. Also, what calibers do you think are more desirable? I know they were made in .25 Rem, .30 Rem, .35 Rem, and 300 Savage. Is ammo still available in .25 Rem or .30 Rem? Any info someone has would be appreciated.

I know the .25 Rem. ammo is no longer available (unless through some place like Old Western Scrounger)

If you do reloading, you can supposedly form .25 Rem. brass from .30 Rem. brass, if you can find it. (I had a bunch of .30 Rem. brass quite a few years ago that I bought at an estate sale, but traded it for something else)

As far as desirability, it would depend on the condition of the firearm and whether the person is looking for an obsolete (rare) collectible like the .25 Rem or whether the person is looking for something that is readily shootable with available ammo or reloading components (.35 Rem. or .300 Sav.).

Be sure to check out the above. The 35 Rem is my favorite. Still readily available, as is the 300 savage (model 81 only).
