I have a Remington shotgun, [16 Ga., Dbl barrel, (Damascus)] with two triggers and with the following info;
Patent date - October 30, 1894
Serial No. - 117080 ( Number appears on all three sections along with the patent date).
Model Type - Unknown [There is another number, (hardly visible to the naked eye) crudely stamped on the lock section of the barrel = 286 (over) 269.]
Other markings - It looks like the number 1 is stamped on the under side of both barrels near the lock. The letter J is stamped at the left side of the lock. The letter A is stamped on the firing section of the lock. The letter A appears on the underside of both barrels jut forward of the No. 1 (above). Forward of the letter A , on the right barrel, there is the number 6 12 .
The bridge between the barrels has wavy engraving or stamping which make the markings hard to read. Looks like Remington name and address.
Barrel length - 26"
Overall length - 42"
Condition - Solid and fires with no looseness. Barrels shinny with two rust spots about the size of a pin head. Inside of barrel - clean and smooth. Stock - Checkered with satin finished walnut and with a few dings which indicate very light field use. No gouges.
Butt plate is hard rubber with some wear but the Remington Coat of Arms clearly visible.
Gun was not used after the advent of steel shot.
Can anyone determine the age and, and if possible, a rough an idea of value?
Thanks and good luck,
Bill Parsons

Age and, if possible, some idea of value of 1894 Shotgun.
Re: Age and, if possible, some idea of value of 1894 Shotgun.
Your Gun was made in 1900 . The other marks are proof marks and the 286 and 289 are the choke designations which I believe indicates 60% choke. I am suspicious that the barrels have been cut since 26" was not the standard at 28", however it could have been special ordered. We don not evaluate guns since we can not physically handle them.
