I’m digging into some family lore about this and I want to preserve rather than restore

I have recently inherited and maybe even rescued 12C that was my grandfather’s.
The stock was broken in the 40’s some time while my grandfather was in the pacific. I’m sure it was my 2 uncles who were responsible. After the “repair” the stock was stained some color that I have removed.
