If you are in a hurry then look for a "take off" stock, a "drop in" stock or a "chassis" stock. Any of these choices should have you ...

Re: Mounting screws for Lyman R25 sight
The TPI can be determined by the screws in the receiver. Original screws may be difficult to locate, direct replacements may be difficult also. Both Brownells and your local hardware store may have suitable screws, you may need to fit head diameter and overall length.

... but there's no sign of any metal having been polished. If it was reblued, it's the best job I've ever seen.
The sights, both front and rear, show a lot of signs of blue wear. The buttplate screws show wear as well as a couple of other parts. The receiver has almost too much blueing when ...

Re: Opinions on a Model 12A
I think it has been restocked, if reblued it was well done. Whoever did the work did good work, very little evidence of changes made. Some of this may have been from having a nice rifle in great shape to start with.

"... I'm seeing that two groove barrels didn't really start showing up until early 1943."
Showing up and being manufactured are two different things. Many things happen during wartime production, I wouldn't worry about minor date "discrepancies".

Check some of the online auction sites, look for guns that match the description and condition of yours. Prices will be the "asking price" but should give you today's ballpark dollar value.

Re: 1954 Remington 760 Gamemaster 30-06 Magazines.
I don't think the variations in markings matter. The stamps wear out and must be replaced. I would guess that designs change and the variations can help in keeping track of flaws or malfunctions of an era. Any of those shown should work just fine in your M760.

I don't know anything about this version, I did find the following quote online, I don't know if it's accurate.
"These guns were a special run for the European market in the 1990s when I was working there (Remington). Never offered on the U.S. market. A small quantity of over-run guns were offered ...

Re: Remington M1903 Unusual Barrel Collar
Per J.C. Harrison's book, The Collectible '03, that rear sight band is listed as a Type 5 and Type 6. Introduced on the 1942-43 Rem M1903's sometime between serial numbers 3,028,000 and 3,062,000.
It does appear to have ground, polished and refinished.

Re: Are custom shop records available? 700 BDL 222 Rem
The factory is likely the only source of proof for a custom rifle. Contact Remington and see if they have records on this particular rifle.
