Whether or not it was manfactured that way, (I agree I dont think it left Remington like that) it is a great shooting rifle. Because the workmanship on the cut/crown and blue were so good, and gun company’s did some strange things back then, it was worth asking about. Thanks again.

Thanks for the input. Either way, I paid $125.00 for it when I bought it with an old steel weaver scope on it and like I said, it shoots a 1 ragged hole group at 100yds.

Not sure if pics will turn out. Under the 7MM Mag it says “stainless steel” No other markings near there except the standard Remington designation and I believe they are patent numbers. Near receiver on left side is 9WP and then right next to receiver is B. On bolt side near receiver is R in a ...

Old 700 Carbine?
I have a 700 Remington manufactured in August of 1967. Has the “stainless steel” stamping on barrel. The barell only measures somewhere approximately 18” long. It looks like a factory cut and crown.
