"B" marked military rolling block barrel bands
What is the meaning of the capital letter B stamped into the side of all three barrel bands of an Egyptian first contract black powder rolling block military rifle? Of all the markings often found on the Egyptian contract rifles, I've never seen this before. Beyond the top tang Remington ID and ...

Model 1879 Argentine Rolling Block Military Rifles/Carbines
Has anyone encountered numbers stamped on the bottom of the barrel of these weapons? If so, does anyone know their meaning? I have heard of (but not seen) numbers stamped just ahead of the action that are not visible when the forend wood is in place. My own rifle and carbine do not display any ...

Re: Mystery Rolling Block Carbine
I should add that there is no "anchor" mark visible on the barrel nor is any cartouche visible on the stock wood. Marks on the wood consist of the "US" stamp on the wrist of the butt stock and the "M" or "W" stamp on the side of the buttstock, positioned in an oval border.

Re: Mystery Rolling Block Carbine
Thanks for your comments about the photos. In particular you mentioned the extractor groove not being visible at the breech if the barrel is changed (which I certainly agree has happened). I'll try to post a photo of the right side of the reveiver, but the tang markings are clearly what you would ...

Re: Mystery Rolling Block Carbine
Above are five photos of the subject carbine that provide some additional detail. I'll try to post a right side action view soon.
