Thanks! Got it figured out now- You have to take the forearm off to get to the numbers underneath which were ZZ. Gun was made in 1953!

Did Bob Runge sign his engraving RR ? I have a 1953 11-48 F-grade 28 gauge that looks to be RR in the engraving(in front of two dogs on the left side) Also: What years was Mr. Runge a Remington factory engraver?

Does anybody know how to date a 11-48? I only see a serial number and SF after the number.

I also have one with a copper tint thats new in the box. I have also seen the ring between the action and barrel look purplish. Does anybody else have one that has done this?

Why do some remington model 700's and 40x's have bolts with a purple tint? Is this fairly common?

What if it is a model 11 B grade? What kind of money would you think? It has better checkering and way better wood than the standard grade.

I am looking to buy a 121B grade and a 513s. The guns must be in 99% to new condition and all original.
