Had a look in Robert Ball's Remington book. According to http://www.american-firearms.com/americ ... 0Sons.html only 26000 were produced, and I have an iron framed no. 5093 with iron triggerguard and 4" barrel

I am not offended. As you say it yourself, the world is not black and white. I am not much for sporterized guns either, but they have their place in the history, I would guess a lot of muskets were carried out west in USA.

A friend has this Reminton 1858 .cal 36 serial 349-- with an extra number on the side and London proof. Anyone who can tell more about it? why the extra no.?

Never heard of a danish "forrester", the swedes had them, rechambered for 8x58R. Most shortened danish rifles was used by fishermen for hunting seals.
And I think you are wrong anout the collector items, the rechambered rifles show the development of arms in the danish army, from the rimfire to the ...

Like said below the picture, the danish arms and armour society publishes a yearbook every year, in 1984 one of the articles was about the Remington. Book titel: "Vaabenhistoris aarbog 1984" text in danish with a short summery in english

Single hook (folded brass wire like a CW musket sling) in one end, button in other. Leather of the same width, total length.
Have a picture af the accesories in a book, but scanning comes op useless, took a picture of the page instead.

It's on a net auction, have found special guns before because the seller didn't know what he had. Looks as a .50 caliber, and the big steps on the sight might be because of a heavy bullet???
The danish rifles / carbines doesn't have that big steps, and the reciever is not rounded like this one ...

What nationality is this well used carbine, seller claims it to be swedish, not sure, note the back sight and the reciever.

The danes didn't have a short rifle, yours ave been civilian shortened.
