This year’s seminar will begin with a catered dinner at the Best Western Plus on September 10th. There will be tours of the VMI Museum, as well as the Jackson House Museum.
The VMI Museum was founded in 1845 and was the first public museum in the commonwealth of Virginia. The VMI Museum collects, preserves, interprets, and exhibits the heritage of VMI, as recorded in the 20,000-artifact collection. Many items in the collection have been presented by VMI alumni like General George Patton, VMI class of 1907.
Thomas Jonathan Jackson lived in Lexington from 1851 to 1861. Jackson was an instructor of artillery tactics at VMI while also a professor of Natural and Experimental Philosophy. In April 1861, Jackson rode off to war. Jackson’s Lexington home is a preservation of time that is a must see in Lexington.
This year’s seminar will have several presentations from NRA curator Phil Schreier, RSA past president Roy Marcot, and RSA director Doug Gravatt. We will conclude the seminar with a catered closing dinner at Best Western Plus and the popular RSA auction!
