721 722 725 dates of mfg
Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg
I have a .300 Savage Model 722, SN 393XX. Not sure of the bbl code or mfg date. Do I need to take the stock off to find these?
Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg
See the image on page 5. Yours should have a TT as the year code and fit in this group. Please report the serial number being inside the bolt rail or on the receiver outside. Also is the rear ring tapped or not. If it is, look to see if you can tell if the ring was drilled as factory or later.Marv924 wrote:I have a .300 Savage Model 722, SN 393XX. Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg
I picked up my M721 today. It's a 30-06 24" barrel, with a barrel code of E SS. Serial Number 225XX it is etched/engraved in the left lug race, inside the receiver. Should be October of 1947.
So add to the list:
225xx 721/30-06 E SS 10/47
Beautiful end to end tiger stripe walnut, that appears to be factory. No embellishments, so it looks like it probably is.
Redfield peep sight, no rear sight blade in the barrel "doughnut" though.
Pachmayr recoil pad, but it was fitted nicely.

Mine is a 721 30-06 A tt, March 48, s# 279xx tapped
In decent shape, stock has a little crack behind reciever. I am planning on re-barreling to 25-06 with a rem 700 takeoff barrel, putting on a very nice 700 adl stock. Unless there is a good reason I should not?

Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg
Just joined the forum, have 722 SN 419xxx 222 mag. Stamped L F so built Feb./59.
Also it has on the same side of the barrel next to the receiver 44 stamped on it.
Can anyone tell me what this might mean? The original stock came with the gun when I bought it a few years ago, but it has a birds-eye maple stock with LH cheek piece. No bulge in the barrel and no rear sight with 24'' bbl. Great shooter.

Entered.
Are you sure that is a "B" month code?

Re: 721 722 725 dates of mfg
My father recently passed away and I'm trying to figure out his collection. He has a 722(A) (stock is as plain as you can get) which has definitely been rebarreled but it is in 22-250. From what I have gathered this was never a production caliber. Remington was able to give me the manufacturing year of 1956 but no month. Serial number is 3762xx.
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
