RSA Journal 3rd Quarter 2024

From the Editor, Roy Marcot

Dear RSA Members,

My, how time flies by. The summer is half over and can the fall be far behind? We just received a phone call from RSA VP Mike Alsop who was returning from the summer Ohio Gun Collector’s Show. You may recall that the OGCA had invites our organization to be the featured “guests” at the show, with both displays and sale items. Mike says that our members outdid themselves, and that photographs will be available for our 4th Quarter Journal.

He reminds us, too, of the RSA’s 26th Annual Historical Seminar that will be held at Remington’s Ammunition Plant in Lonoke, Arkansas on October 2nd thru the 4th. See the announcement on page 36 of this issue.

RSA President Ed Taddeo reminds us the Texas Gun Collectors Association have invited the RSA to be the featured gun club at their show on October 18th thru the 20th in Denton, Texas. See the announcement on page 16.

All my best,

Welcome to your 3rd quarter RSA Journal. Summer is here and things are looking GOOD for the RSA! In a month or two, the RSA website will have a whole new look to it. Many improvements will make things easier to navigate our site. October, the 2nd thru the 4th will be the Annual RSA Historical Seminar that will be held at the Remington Ammunition Factory in Lonoke, Arkansas. Your Seminar coordinator Mike Alsop is putting together another smashing event for all to enjoy! Details are in this Journal, so begin to make your plans now.

Also, in October the RSA has been invited to join the Texas Gun Collectors Association at their Denton Texas fall show. Tables will be available for RSA members – both for sale and for display. I will be the contact for this event, so call or email me for more info. The TGCA folks like ALL GUNS!!! More details will be forthcoming in an RSA Blast soon.

Work proceeds on the massive scanning process of the RSA’s extensive Remington Archives. Every week a professional scanning service picks up the next batch of records and returns digital records which continue to expand RSA’s massive digital Archives. We are proceeding to find the right historian to be our first RSA Historical Archivist. In the future all requests for materials will be channeled through him. More to follow soon. Until then continue to enjoy the history and the collecting of “All Things Remington!
