Beals Old Army Revolver

Post by FWVetter »

Hi,
Several years ago, I purchased locally a Remington Beals Old Army Revolver, cal 44, serial number 15 with the original holster. I was told then that my revolver was carried by the famed McNeill's Rangers during the Civil War (the ones who captured Gens Crook and Kelly) and was captured by them from one of the Union units that guarded the B & O railroad around New Creek (WV) and Cumberland, MD. Since then I have been trying to authenicate this information and have ran into a wall. Can anyone tell me where to look further or point me in the right direction? Thanks.
