Date of Production of Remington New Model Army?

Post by Yankee John »

Hi, I have an original Remington New Model Army that I purchased last year from a local gun shop. Pics are below.

It's serial number is 115556. Can anyone tell me when it was made? Also, Can this pistol be traced to a particular military unit?

Unfortunately, Someone had re-blued it in the past. Still, It is completely numbers matching everywhere (barrel, cylinder, grips, frame) and martially marked including a partial cartoushe on the left grip.

Thanks in advance!

I would say your gun was made in late 1864. There is no record of who used it to our knowledge. Jay Huber RSA
