Remington Targetmaster model 610

Post by Florencenursing »

My rifle says Remington 22 short, long, long rifle Targetmaster model 610 on the barrel. It also has a stamp Remington Arms Co Inc. Ilion, N.Y. and the
patent numbers. Then there is a Kc5 stamped on the side of the barrel. I think it is a 22. Can I get a manual for this rifle? There are no serial numbers on the barrel. When do you think this gun was made? I got it from my Dad, and he is 82 now. Thanks for any help you can give me.

I believe if you look at the stamping a little harder it may say 510. This pops up quite a bit. You can google Remington 510 manual, and you will probably come up with one.

My stepson was here tonight and we started talking guns. I pulled out an old 22 rifle that has been in the family for years. It is a Remington Targetmaster model 610 and has KF30 stamped on left side of barrel. Also has several patent numbers stamped on barrel. After close examination, I think it is actually a 510. The confusion comes from the model stamping. Looks like a 6, but I think it is actually a 5. The number has a straight line on top like a 5 but it looks closed at the bottom like a 6. If you look at the patent numbers on barrel it is clearly different between a 5 and a 6. I think the stampings are causing a lot of confusion. Hope this helps.

Hi all,
I hope to clarify this 510-610 confusion. Remington experimented with a higher powered rim fire cartridge, the 267RF.
I don't have the book handy, so I can't give the dates. However the few examples they made were in the 600 series.
The 610 single shot, 611 clip magazine, 612 tubular mag. etc. Were all based on the 500 series model.
Thus if a rifle is 22 cal. RF it's a 500, if the caliber is 267 RF it's a 600 series.
By the way all of the 600's are very rare!
