Does anyone out there have any first-hand experience with this gun and, if so, what are your impressions? Also, does anyone happen to know why Remington only offered this shotgun for just a couple of years? From catalog photos I've seen, it looks like a very nice firearm.

Thanks,
Unfortunately, Remington's history with double guns has been brief with regard to each model being on the market. I had wanted a Model 3200 trap gun when they were introduced back in 1973. I finally managed to find one in 1989 that was in real nice condition. I did shoot it some and it shot real good, but trapshooting got expensive and I'm not all that close to a trap range anymore to use it.......so, it's been sitting in the gun cabinet. About a year or two ago, I found out that many years ago, they had either recalled the earlier manufactured ones or had fixes for them at the factory. At some point, they quit fixing them at the factory and now it has to be done at a place in Minnesota. I looked into what it would cost to have the "fix" done and it's almost as much as what I paid for it in '89. Consequently, I have no plans to have it done.
I've noticed that in the last 20-some years, their attempts to revive another over/under model have been what you are seeing with that one you mentioned.......they're only being cataloged for a couple of years and then they disappear. As much as I like my other Remingtons, I wouldn't buy another double gun of theirs.
Back in 1968, I bought a Savage Model 440 12 ga. over/under for $160 (new on a closeout) and it's been the sweetest shooting double I've ever shot. It seemed that any birds I pointed it at went down......and many went down with it. It was an Italian-made gun and with the advent of the Internet, I was able to find out that Fabarm made it for Savage/Fox.
