Remington Model 10 - Grandfather's first shotgun

Post by wwalls »

I have had passed down to me a Remington Model 10, S/n 259933, The patent information on the barrel is

REMINGTON ARMS COMPANY, INC,SUCESSOR TO THE
REMINGTON ARMS U.M.C.CO.INC. REMINGTON ILION WKS.
ILION,N.Y.U.S.A. PATENTED FEB.3,03 AND MAY 16,05

I'd like to find out more information about this gun. Any help pointing me where to look is very appreciated.

Thank you,

March 1927

I looked up the manufacture date code (AU) on the left side of the barrel and it came back March, 1927 or 1971. I know it was not 1971, so I seem to be on my way to learning more about this. Thanks for any information that anyone else can point me to.

Thanks,

From time to time one can find old Remington Catalogues from the period of your gun, and even instruction sheets and other advertising brochures on ebay.

Mr Walls,

You have a nice gun there. I too inherited a model 10 from my great- grandfather.

Remington has info on this gun in its History section on its website.

cheers.
