I have my grandpa 22 "shorts, longs, or long" rifle. It is stamped with this information: Remington Arms
Union Metallic Caartridge Co.
Model 6
Remington Works
Ilion, N.Y.
Can any one tell me something about it?

most blue except the very early models which have casehardened frame. If there is any
other stampings on the barrel near the frame check this.

I also have my grandpa's Remington .22 bolt action. It is a "Target Master", model 510. The interesting thing about it is, it has a medallion mounted on the butt of the pistolgrip portion of the stock that says: Our 47th Anniversary. Does this precisely date the rifle? Is anyone aware of Remington doing this sort of thing on their rifles. I also thought it odd to commemorate the 47th year.
Thanks for any input.
