20 gauge rolling block identification issue

Post by MrBryce »

I'm trying to find out more about my rolling block 20 gauge. I don't knwo much about it, it has no model number on it, and allthe things I would use to identify it's model are not there. If you could tell me what info to provide to assist in it's identification that would be great!

I take it that it is a single barrel shotgun. If this is the case there were models #1 & #2. #1 was a 16 Ga.bore that uses-es a 16 B brass shell which is the same size as a 20 GA. paper shell and could be used in the gun. It should have a flat shotgun butt plate. #2 is usually a 20 GA. bore with a curved military metal butt plate and uses a 20 ga. shell. Some times the are found configured like #1. Let me know what you have? Jay Huber RSA

I am not at home right now, (on vacation) but I do know for certain that it does have the curved butt plate, and a 20 gauge cartridge did fit into it. What were the dates on manufacture on these, I'm assuming it's a #2?
