I have a Rem. 22 cal. model 550-1 (CXX) April 1953 date? Can anyone tell me if the original cartridge deflector plate ,changed in design after the manufacturing, or did it remain the same in configuration and/or design? Also is there any fans or afinicinados of this model Remington 22.cal ? Thanks.

Yes, the deflector first appeared shortly after the model 550 was introduced in 1941 and it was different from later deflectors. Early deflectors were more square, less deep and offered less protection from ejected cases than later deflectors.

It is rare to find an early 550 with the correct early style deflector.
