Re: Remington Model 14 Thumbnail Safety Questions????

Post by rem141 »

Wiktor,
The thumbnail safety guns were made for about 1 year starting toward the end of 1919. Many of those guns had both safeties and they both worked. You cannot tell by the serial number because many serialized receivers were on hand when the conversion was started. About 25% of the guns converted had receivers made prior to 1917, s/n 60,000. Earlist one I have recorded is s/n 29xxx, receiver made in 1914, gun produced 1919-1920. Your rifle more than likely came that way from the factory.
