Model 725's
Model 725's
This may seem like a dumb question but I can't get it out of my mind. Would the barrel on a 725 be interchangeable with a late model 721? One of my 721's does not have the band on the barrel around the rear site. This barrel looks just like the one on a 725 I recently seen. And from my understanding the 725 was just a modified version of the 721, although that depends on who I talk to. Just wondering. If anyone knows the answer or has tried changing the barrels I would be interested to know. It may mean that I can buy a couple more guns...Just don't tell my wife.
barrel fit
721, 722, and 725 are all basically the same. Barrels will switch. However the indexing with sights straight up and headspacing usually requires setting back the barrel 1 thread. Except for that, your 721 without the swell at the rear sight is just like the 725 except for the hooded front ramp.
The only differences between 721(2) of the "transition period" (no barrel swell) and 725 besides calibers was the stock, floorplate, hooded front sight, and safety lever and bolt knob. Also the 725 took over the fancy grades from the 721. Precious few fancy grade were made in either one.

Thanks Rem725. That was what I had thought. I'm hoping it never comes down to having to switch barrels, but I was just curious. The 725 is the only Remington bolt I don't have in my collection. They are just a little out of my price range at this time after I dropped a pretty penny on a 720. One of the online auction sites had a 725 with some minor pitting on the barrel, and it seems that I have a 721 stuck in every corner of the house so it got me wondering. Thanks again.

Do you think this gun would be worth 450.00 or higher. Thinking of selling it dont hunt anymore, just been setting around for the last 12 years.
