Where can I research an engraved 1890 SAA?

A friend of our family died and left behind a gun collection that included dozens of Remingtons. Included was this engraved 1890 SAA. It matches the pattern of the gun on page 130 of REMINGTON HANDGUNS by Karr and Karr. The photo credit is from the Remington Museum.

I've got a call in to the Remington Museum, but I was wondering if anyone else might have some leads as to how I can research exactly what this gun is. Is it the one pictured in the book? Is it a factory engraving pattern? Is it an artful copy? I don't want to dispose of it for my widowed friend until I can get some answers (or find out there is no answer) to these questions.
