Remington model 14-R Carbine with C-grade wood

Post by 54bullseye »

Here is a nice little model 14 carbine in 32 rem. According to barrel codes made in May of 1923 and it returned to factory in Nov of 1928. I have no idea why it went back to the factory.

The guns stock is serialized to receiver # 88281 and the lower trigger assembly. However the metal butt plate has a different number # 89176 it's 895 digits away from guns serial number. I think that was common on the mod 14.

The stock has nice C-grade "I believe" checkering. It does show some fairly heavy signs of use in scratches and dents in stock and carry wear and dents in metal. The original sights have both been replaced with higher bigger sights. Seems that might have been pretty common as the wheel sight and it's lower front sight were pretty hard to see being so low and fine. Especially for quick shot hunting in thick woods.

I am posting a bunch of picture so any comments would be very welcome ! Enjoy the pictures.
Thanks !! John Taylor

Now that’s a good looking rifle! Not only is it a carbine, but a C grade too. I imagine there’s few C & engraved carbines out there. I like that it has nice honest user wear especially for it’s age.
