Remington 1858 History

Post by ekeith44 »

Dear Remington enthusiasts!

Greeting from Europe!
I own an original Remington New Model Army 1858 Revolver SN 92307 which should be from August 1864 if I am correct?

Is there a chance of receiving information about the revolvers history in detail?
Has it been issued? To whom it was issued? ect…
I am sure this is not an easy task living thousands of miles away from the US.

Best Regards

Hello Keith,

Here is a real long shot. Remington revolvers were sold to France by both Remington, and third party agents, for the Franco-Prussian War. For some reason, the French stripped the finish off of most of the pistols they acquired.
