Hi cloverleaf,

Your serial, 11329 was made in Feb. 1863. The serial numbers started with the Beals Models, and continued sequentially to the end of production of the Army revolvers.

Don Ware’s book on the large Frame revolvers, shows a total of 13,100 Beals, 1861s, and 1861 to New Model transitions were sent through March 1863. This leads me to believe that your gun must be one of the 1861 to New Model transitions.

There is no definite point, or serial, when a change was made. Remington did not stop production, to make changes, or to switch from one model to the next. They incorporated any changes as soon as they were decided on, in order to keep the production of guns moving.

Enjoy your new gun,
Daniel
