Remington NM
Re: Remington NM
Hi Ivory Rem, New Model Army serial 52013, was made in Jan. 1864. The small, stamped letters are the mark of a government sub-inspector. There should also be a cartouche on the lower left grip, the mark of the final inspector, but it may have worn off, or the grips replaced. The inspectors' marks mean that the gun was accepted for government service. Beyond that, we have no idea of where the gun went, or what may have happened to it.
