I would like to thank you all for maintaining this forum. It’s been a wealth of info and knowledge. By way of introduction, I’m not a collector, or owner of many Remingtons. My one shotgun is a pretty recent, unremarkable 870 model,12 gauge home defense type. The Gamemaster was my Dad’s deer hunting rifle, which he gave me. According to links on this site, from its serial # 205205, & the markings on the left side, it’s a May 1954 model. I’d like confirmation if this is correct from the knowledgeable members here. I have no intention of selling it, so not asking for a valuation. It’s priceless to me, just want to know more about it. I’ve read many relevant posts here about the 760 Gamemaster. My questions are about the proper ammo to use, what is the significance of and the years the five diamond pattern was used? What are the meaning of different letter designations like ADL, BDL, etc? Is the round medallion under the grip original to this vintage 760? I understand that the greatest number of model 760s were chambered in 30.06. Mine is a .270 and I only found the 4 rounds that were already in the magazine. The scratches on the stock resulted from Dad storing it with the loose magazine tossed into the case outside the rifle. Thanks in advance for any answers. I’ll try posting some pictures of my old treasure. Should I take it to a gunsmith to check it for operability before going to a range and shooting it? It might not be worth anything as a collectible, but its sentimental value means the world to me.

Thanks to Dave Shuman of Dix Hill Sporting who is selling a 1956 Gamemaster model 760 ADL Deluxe on Gunbroker.com.

He sent me a .pdf file of an article from this site which confirms my rifle is also a ADL Deluxe model

See the below attached relevant pages of the article.
