Just saw this gun in an article - the article was ghastly, but the gun interesting. Gun apparently is a Remington Rolling Block receiver, with a stock, barrel and fore end form an 1863 Remington AKA "Zouave". I seem to remember seeing this done with a 1861/63 Springfield.
Anyone know any particulars?
Thanks

Re: Rolling Block -1863 Remington
Remington made thousands of Springfield M1861/63 musket conversions-to-breechloader starting in 1868. They also made a very few salesman samples using other muzzle loading arms — the Remington “Zouave rifle” being a very rare example.
Re: Rolling Block -1863 Remington
Thank you. Not sure if I should look to having one of these made up or not. I've seen the Springfield one on occasion - I wonder what kind of ammunition they used?
