Model 14/141 Parts / Buying from the Internet

Post by nambujim »

Knowing when a seller doesn't have a clue as to what he is selling and stretches the truth about the description is someone to avoid. Hope the bloody image loads.

This bolt is being offered for a Model 141 for $109 described as being in good shape with minor surface rust & dings. You draw your own judgment as to the condition while I'll just add that its NOT for a 141 but rather for an earlier Model 14. I've been working on these rifles a really long time and would classify this one as unusable. You decide.

This rifle is listed by a seller I have done business with and for the most part trust. This 141 is described as "Collector Quality" for $695 in .35 Remington.

Here is my take on this rifle:
Ill fitting butt plate.
After market swivel screwed into stock.
Missing rear sight.
............and best of all both the barrel & frame have been drilled for Weaver mounts.

This rifle comes far short of being collector quality and "who knows" how far they drilled into the barrel for that bloody scope block. I'm going to keep posting this type of thing because it just freakin' annoys me!

Yikes!

Thanks for the kind words, just trying to point out that almost never do the advertisers say that their bloody offering actually works along with being less than honest about the description!

Here is a recent posting of another bolt for $69.50 plus shipping/tax.

It is listed as "New Old Stock" and the description is as follows "unused but has oil stains from long term storage". ................and this chap has had over 5,000 sales. It is advertised as a bolt for a 141 AND it is for a 141, will give them credit for that. Again, you need to beware of sellers that take liberties with the truth.
