Early Model 11 Remingtons

Post by Raaf »

I have two early semi auto Remington shotguns which were my great-grandfather's. Trying to determine their date of manufacture and value. Thanks,

The John M. Browning designed Remington Autoloading Shotgun was introduced in the 1905-06 Remington Arms Co. catalog.

Both of your guns are from that era, though 6600 appears to have later wood on it.

In 1911, Marcellus Hartley Dodge combined his arms and ammunition companies as Remington Arms - Union Metallic Cartridge Co. I their 1911-12 catalog they began calling this John M. Browning designed gun the Model No. 11.

Thanks very much for that info. You are correct that the 6600 had the stock replaced at some point (unfortunately).

Thanks for the side by side photo.

I have never realized that the earliest models had a different contouring of the receiver sides than the other pre-18,000 serial number guns that were side stamped.

The ejection port difference always masked this change to my eye.

Great guns, keep them well!
