Model 851

These are mine and in my possession. Pics #1 and #2 show a model 851, I included pic #3 because it is more common and is probably recognizable, it is here for comparison to the first two pics.

Circa 1949, what are your thoughts? The 851 designation was kept at the 1961 Redraw. The original model designation of the 11-48?

In house assembly tools drawings.
In house project numbers for not yet released models are often different from the final one.
What could have happened... did.

According to Myszkowski's book Remington Aotoloading & Pump-Action Rifles the Model 851 designation was changed to Model 11-48 when production began..
