Rem 141 highest serial number

Post by Shoez1972 »

Howdy all, I was on GB and there is a 141 in .30 that is sn 78278 and another 141 in .35 sn 78916 just sold last week. According to Ken Blauch’s book, the last known 141 was sn 76881. Just an interesting find.

On a side note , I personally own two 141’s, sn 1955 in 35 and sn 31794 in 32.

Since Ken's book was published we have found a many more high serial guns. Right now the latest based on Tom Hemphill's records is 797xx..............in fact there are more than a few with a 797xx serial. The bad news is that those late serial guns lack the quality of the early guns. You are lucky to have two pre-war rifles, they were the best by far!!!!

My 141 in 32 is shoots ridiculously small groups for the type of gun it is. I’ve occasionally gotten 5 shots in just over an inch at 100 yards and iron sights. Makes me giggle! It does have a perfect bore, so that helps.

Another 141 has appeared on GB, this time sn 78118 and possibly unique because it’s a 32 Rem. According to some sources I’ve read, post WW2 32’s aren’t common due to lack of popularity. I assume Remington just wanted to use up barrels.

Aside from that topic, about 20 years ago I saw a 141 in 25 Rem at a local gun show. For a mere $450. I already had one in 35 so I passed. Wish I could go back………….
