Sean!
Let me try to be diplomatic and state that the description of your problem is scant at best. Based on the first sentence I would say to begin with it sounds like the bolt is NOT going into full battery.............meaning it is not fully forward/locked into position. If this is the case then in "some" instances it's far enough forward for the trigger to release the firing pin but not being in full battery would allow the bolt to fall back and lock up against the trigger.

The less diplomatic side of me would ask that you re-read your posting because I find it difficult to fully understand. My feeling is this might have been an internet purchase from a less than dependable seller. To say these rifles are quirky is an under statement but in this case too many unskilled hands have messed with your rifle. Almost for certain it has had parts replaced/damaged and/or it has the wrong bolt.

These rifles are very "parts specific" meaning they were assembled/fit with a set of parts unique to your rifle. The older the Model 14, the more difficult it is to find or replace the parts needed to make it right. In the case of your rifle it might just be the bolt but its usually more than that. There are twenty (20) parts in a standard Model 14 bolt so a lot can go wrong BUT the proper bolt should at least go into full battery. Doubt any of this helps!
