Remington-UMC US Army 1911 December 1918 Production

Post by varifleman »

Here for your perusal is Remington-UMC .45ACP U.S. Army Model of 1911 serial number 9808 shipped December 1918 per Poyer's Model 1011 book (is any additional shipment information available)? Despite hard use it's nice and tight and should be a good shooter (will post range report when I shoot it).

Hi VArifleman,

Very unusual for the slide and the frame to have different amounts of finish, so I suspect they are are from 2 different guns. It's not unusual to see a Rem-UMC slide on a Colt frame, but In this case they are both Remington so not too bad, just different amounts of wear. The slide release lever is an obvious replacement, and the mag should also have a loop on the bottom. Since you bought it as a shooter, it should be a good gun to shoot, just keep in mind that it is 103 years old and stay away from hot loads, or defensive ammo.

Since this pistol is primarily a shooter with different slide and frame had it reblued; turned out rather nicely. I'll post a range review once I shoot it.
