1966 Rem 1100 20ga help needed

Post by JohnB37075 »

I have a older 1100 D grade 20 ga. Serial #271***X . I feel certain I am am in need of a receiver buffer. The gun has a solid bolt with no provisions for a bolt buffer. In the rear of the receiver just above the spring connection slide is a cutout that looks like where one would fit. I can see where slight wear is present at the rear of the receiver from where it appears the bolt has been striking. There is no damage to the bolt at all. I would be glad to upload some pictures if I can figure out ho to do so. Thank you in advance for anyone's help with this issue.

There never was a buffer, either in the bolt or the receiver. I see no evidence of the bolt contacting the receiver.
What could have happened... did.
