I am looking at images of an 1871 Army .50 Rolling Block. Waiting for photos of the block but I am skeptical. I suspect if true it is a case of the older block being swapped into the later pistol.
Were there any 1871 Army pistols manufactured in rimfire? I am not finding any such references in my limited literature.
Was there ever...1871 Army Rimfire?
Re: Was there ever...1871 Army Rimfire?
According to Jerry Landskron’s book “Remington Rolling Block Pistols” the 1971 Army revolver was made in 50 caliber centerfire. There were however some target models (1887, 1891 and 1901) which used the 1871 Army frame and were offered in the smaller rimfire calibers (22 S, 22LR, 25-10 and 32).

Hi Andy,
Is it an Army or a Navy? The 1867 Navies were 50rf, then most were converted to 50cf, but just changing the blocks. As Billt said, the frames were used for a lot of target pistols of many calibers.

I finally got photos of the breech block.
It is definitely an Army model centerfire.
